PNGRFL Chairman Sandis Tsaka said the PNGRFL Board, Meninga and Management had been hard at work over the past 2 months reviewing the Team Kumul Program:

“There has been a thorough review of the entire program including the implementation of a new budget which focuses on what we have to do in country to develop and prepare our players for  our next World Cup Campaign in 2017. As promised and recently announced we are employing 13 Development Officers across the region with specific roles and responsibilities, which will answer to the National Development Manager, through to Head Coach Mal Meninga, the PNGRFL CEO and Board. We are very much in charge of the program and dedicated to developing our youth and providing a high performance pathway for them to excel. This is the start of this process.”

Tsaka said the National Competitions Manager was a vital role also;

“With the enormous task of delivering the Team Kumul and SP PNG Hunters program it was recommended at our last AGM by the leagues and we agree that our CEO needs assistance. The National Competitions Manager will be the direct link to all of our leagues, players across the Nation, plus the Digicel Cup. He will again answer directly to the PNGRFL CEO and Board so it is an important position and vital we get the right person. We are looking for a person of integrity, honesty and loyal to what we are trying to achieve with Rugby league in this country.”

The advertisements in both newspapers will again run on Monday with the close of applications on the 24th January 2014. This will be followed by an interview process along with accreditation and training for successful applicants.
