Morocco name four French-based players in their MEA train-on squad

Morocco have named four players who play in the French domestic league in their squad for the MEA Championship in Lagos, Nigeria from 2-5 October. Iliass Laachiri from Lyon, Carpentras’ Naji Anas, Adam Ed Diche from Union Sportive Ferralaise and Toulon’s Badreddine Medkouri (pictured) will all be meeting their team mates from the domestic leagues in the Nigerian capital.

Morocco Rugby League name coach for MEA Championships

On the back of the completion of their domestic championship, Morocco Rugby League has named Jérôme Alonso as their head coach for the MEA Championships in Nigeria in October, where they will initially face Cameroon. He will be assisted by Rachid Amraoui.

The continuing struggle to obtain government recognition for rugby league in Morocco has reached a new phase following the added support of Claude Moraes, MEP for London and Chair of the European Parliament’s Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee, who has agreed to look into the case and help raise the matter at EU level.
