The 9th Intercollegiate rugby league Championship was claimed by Excelsior Community College Eagles on Saturday, when they defeated Caribbean Maritime University Spartans 22-18, at the UWI Mona Bowl.

To commemorate the 65th anniversary of the inugural rugby league match played in the country, further history was made when Red Star Belgrade won the first-ever full contact girls match, beating Red Kangaroos 46-16 at the Ada Ciganlija stadium.

First official girls rugby league game played in Jamaica

Cedar Grove Academy Tally-Hawks (pictured) defeated Ascot High 8-4 in the first full girls’ game held in Jamaica. The high school sides met in a 9s clash, with previous activity for girls having been a tag tournament.
