France off to great start in European Championship with win against Ireland

A drop goal seven minutes from time by Hull KR hooker John Boudebza eased France home to a 31-14 win over Ireland in Albi.

Mark Aston’s Irishmen had shocked Les Tricolours in the European Championship last year with a win in Dublin and made the perfect start, Longhorns winger Casey Dunne going over in the 19th minute, Liam Finn converting.

Win for French Rugby League with beIN SPORTS broadcasting French Internationals live

At the formal launch of the tournament today in Huddersfield, the RLEF announced that beIN SPORTS will be an official broadcast partner of the Rugby League European Championship 2015.

The channel will broadcast France’s two home matches from Albi and Avignon, and their away match against Wales in Cardiff. All three matches involving France will be broadcast LIVE on the channel.

French name European Cup squad with one eye on the 2017 Coupe du Monde

France look to start a new conquest when they kick-off their European Cup Campaign on the 17th of October in Albi.

The objective will not only be to retain their 2nd place in the European ranking, but also to prepare for the 2017 World Cup which will be played on Australian soil.

French target success in RLWC as well as European Championship

France team manager Gilles Dumas has stressed the importance of the 2015 European Championships as a stepping stone to performing well in the 2017 World Cup.

As quarter-finalists in the last global tournament in 2013, when Les Tricolors successfully hosted group games, the French are automatic seeds for the next one in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
