Belgium inaugural rugby league championship set for kick-off

The Belgian Rugby League Association has announced the launch of its first-ever rugby league club competition, with four clubs participating in the Belgian Super League, which will end with a Grand Final on 25 June, 2016.

Eagles RL and Cens Academy of Molenbeek, North Brussels Gorillas and East Brussels Broncos make up the competition, with each club playing the other twice.

Final leadership devolution project RL activity undertaken

Delegates from Belgium and the Netherlands attended the French Federation Congress, in the final activity of the 18-month Leadership Devolution Project, which has been supported by the European Union.

The RLEF nations have been involved in programmes fostering good governance and increasing match officials and coaching capacity, with the senior nations acting as mentors.

Coach Benson delighted with Belgium rugby league victory

Head coach Tony Benson has expressed his delight with Belgium’s 52-12 victory over the Czech Republic in Brussels.

Having reviewed the footage of their nine-try triumph, Benson said, “I am really happy with our progress and the development of depth within the Belgium squad.

Holland and Belguim launch joint rugby league competition

Following a meeting in Hoogerheide, delegates from Belgium and Dutch rugby league clubs have formally announced a new competition.

The cross-border league will be named the BNRL Championship (Begium-Nederland Rugby League Championship) and the four clubs involved are: Amsterdam Cobras Rugby League Club, Den Haag Knights Rugby League, Rotterdam Pitbulls RLFC and North Brussels Gorillas Rugby League.
