The 14th Rugby League World Cup starts in Cardiff, Wales, this weekend when England takes on Australia and Wales faces Italy in a double header at Millennium Stadium. From there the 14 nations will compete through the First Rounds Stages to finally face off in Wembley Stadium for the semi-finals and the final at Old Trafford in Manchester.

Wales will secure their place at next year's World Cup with a win over Italy in Monza in a fortnight's time, after a comprehensive nine-try triumph over Serbia in Llanelli.

Canada opens its first ever campaign to get to the Rugby League World Cup when it takes on Jamaica in the Americas Region Qualifying series Tuesday night in DeLand, Florida.

It will be Game 2 of the Firehouse Subs series with the USA having already beaten the Reggae Warriors in the series opener last Friday night.

Lebanon duly qualified their first World Cup since 2000 with a comprehensive second leg win over South Africa at the Bosman Stadium, Brakpan, Pretoria.

As in the first leg, Cedars winger Travis Robinson was the destroyer in chief with a second successive hat trick against the Rhinos, second rower Elias Sukker again the man of the match after another storming display, which saw Lebanon triumph 90-28 on aggregate.

Ireland will face Russia in Bray next Saturday to decide who qualifies automatically for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup after a nine-try, 46-6 win in Valencia against Spain.

James Maloney and Ben Hunt will make their first appearances of the 2017 Rugby League World Cup on Saturday night against Lebanon at Allianz Stadium.

Leading NRL referee Gerard Sutton has been appointed to control Saturday's Rugby League World Cup 2017 clash between New Zealand and Tonga at Waikato Stadium, which will determine the winner of Pool B.
