The NRL Telstra Premiership Finals Series 2018 was launched in spectacular fashion today with stars from all eight Finals teams coming together at Allianz Stadium.
Earlier on Tuesday, rugby league star Suliasi Vunivalu signed a two-year deal with the Queensland Reds in the Super Rugby. The Fiji-native played in the Rugby Union while schooling in New Zealand, before linking with the Melbourne Storm where he quickly set the National Rugby League ablaze crossing 72 times in 94 appearances.
The Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) held its monthly meeting today, with regular agenda items including updates across football, integrity, and the future footprint of the game.
The NRL today previewed the 2019 season calendar to a meeting of club CEOs.
Just as the 2018 World Cup in Russia was marred in VAR controversy, now it’s the turn of refereeing in the NRL to come under intense scrutiny. Nothing new in this, many will say, although this time the volume and frequency of the complaints is at a level seldom seen before, largely because refereeing incompetence looks like directly ending a team’s season.
