The Melbourne Storm suffered a devastating defeat in the NRL Finals Series after winning the Minor Premiership during the 2019 season. Craig Bellamy’s men were outstanding during the regular season, losing only four of their 24 matches, notching 20 victories to top the table. They finished comfortably ahead of the Sydney Roosters for the Minor Premiership, the fourth time they achieved the feat in the last 10 years.
Melbourne Storm failed for the second season on the bounce in the NRL playoffs, suffering a defeat in the Preliminary Final at the hands of the Sydney Roosters. The Storm won the Minor Premier for the third time in four years, but were unable to rise to the occasion in the post-season as they were forced to watch their the Roosters claim the Grand Final crown once again.
Earlier on Tuesday, rugby league star Suliasi Vunivalu signed a two-year deal with the Queensland Reds in the Super Rugby. The Fiji-native played in the Rugby Union while schooling in New Zealand, before linking with the Melbourne Storm where he quickly set the National Rugby League ablaze crossing 72 times in 94 appearances.
