Turkey Rugby League reports major increase in participation

The Turkish Rugby League Association has reported considerable growth as the champions of the men’s and women’s games have been crowned. Kadikoy Bulls defeated Ankara Phrygians 28-18 in the men’s Grand Final, whilst Izmir Batı Gücü also defeated the Phrygians, 8-4, in a double-header staged at the IBB Maltepe Sahil Sport Center, in Istanbul.

Undefeated Kadikoy Bulls’ 26-22 victory over Kandira in Turkey Rugby League’s inaugural U18 Grand Final is another significant milestone in the sport’s international development.
Turkey face Ukraine in U19s European Championship qualifier
Turkey will face Ukraine this Saturday (31 August) at the Beylerbeyi Stadium, Istanbul to determine the eighth nation to play in the 2020 U19s European Championship (kick off 3pm).

The Turkish Rugby League Association has become the 21st member of the Rugby League European Federation. They have been upgraded from Observer status after increases in participation and instituting enhanced governance procedures.
Historic weekend for European Rugby League
For the first time, two full women’s internationals took place on the same day, marking a milestone weekend for the RLEF, with a number of historic fixtures. Canada Ravens beat Serbia Women 34-6 in Belgrade, the hosts making their international debut in the female game, whilst Turkey continue their rapid progression overcoming debutants Greece Women in Edrine, 40-4.
Rugby League European Federation admit Turkey as a member nation

The Turkish Rugby League Association has been awarded Observer status by the RLEF. The development follows a busy period in the country with the TRLA completing its first domestic championship involving five clubs, hosting two international beach events, as well as participating in the inaugural Balkans Super League.
Turkey and Greece to meet in historic double-header
The Turkish and Greek Rugby League Associations have agreed to stage an historic double-header at the Aysekadin Yerleskesi Futbol Stadium in the city of Edirne, on Saturday the 14 September. Their women’s sides will meet first followed by the men, with all the players from the respective domestic competitions.
