The RLEF completed its Swedish programme in the 18-month, EU-part funded Leadership Devolution Project, running a coaching activity in Lund, in the south of the country to qualify their two trainee educators, Paul Briggs and Ashley Brown.

As the newest club in Sweden, we welcome Stockholms Kungar. The idea of starting a new club was proposed earlier this year, and to test the waters a friendly match was played against another new club, the Sodertalje Storm.
Interest has grown since that game, and after a recent meeting the capital city-based team are establishing themselves and moving forward. Their foundation meeting elected an interim board to run the foundations of the club, consisting of Adam Kirk (President), Sam Cammell (Vice President), Pontus Eriksson (Secretary).

Newcomers Stockholm Kungar, in their first official competition, were triumphant in the pre-season Scandinavian 9s, held in Kungsbacka,
Kungar defeated defending champions Copenhagen Black Swans in their first game, played in light snow, and also went on to overcome Sodertalje in the pool stages.

Sweden to hold another open training session to fans as well as national selection.
An open training session will be held on Sunday July 13 in Jönköping for all current players and those interested in trying out rugby league for the first time.

A new-look Sweden are set to face Norway in Gothenburg this Saturday in the next round of the 2012 Nordic Cup, according to Sverige RL Chairman Scott Edwards.
â€œWe held a training session in SkÃ¥ne recently, a county in southern Sweden that is new to rugby league,â€ he said. â€œFrom that 16 new, younger players made it into the squad and the boys are very excited.â€
Six teams will contest the third Scandinavian 9s at Kungsbacka next Saturday (21 March) as a prelude to the Sweden RL domestic season.
Copenhagen Black Swans will be defending the title and this year sees newly formed Stockholm-based clubs Kungar and Södertälje Storm joining Skåne Crusaders and Kungsbacka Broncos. Gothenburg RK will also make their debut in the competition.
Major changes have been unveiled by Sweden Rugby League which has seen them elect a new chairman and board, sign a major sponsorship deal and announce the formation of two new clubs in Stockholm which will see the start of regular domestic competition.

Sweden produced an upset win in the opening game of the 2013 Nordic Cup, beating holders and European Bowl participants Norway 40-22 in Oslo.
The underdog visitors raced into a 20-0 lead, skipper Fabian Wikander leading the way, the hooker posting a total of two tries and six goals in a 20 point haul.
