Scotland "A" opened their Community Game Four Nations campaign with a deserved victory over Ireland "A" at Sunnyside.
New coach Anthony Murray selected a side drawn entirely from Scottish clubs â€“ with five players from Ayrshire Storm, four from Edinburgh Eagles, three from Easterhouse Panthers and one from champions Aberdeen Warriors starting â€“ and was rewarded with a performance that underlined the improving strength of the club game in Scotland.
The opening round of the Scottish Conference League (Central) saw the Easterhouse Panthers prove to strong in a twenty four try romp over a weak Victoria Knights team.
The Panthers with no less than 9 Internationalists were a formidable force only turning the ball over on two occasions through laspses in concentration which would have otherwise an unblemished performance.

Scotland Students are celebrating 25 years since their formation with a reunion of past players in Edinburgh in October. A function will be held on Saturday 13th followed by attending the Scotland v Ireland Alitalia European Cup fixture the next day. As part of that match, there will be a half time presentation of past players from the generations who have pulled on the shirt.

Scotland U18 were unable to build on a competitive first half as they fell to a heavy defeat at Sunnyside.
The young Scots trailed 10-4 at the break, Hull KR scrum-half Louis Senterâ€™s unconverted try bookended by two from England centre Pete Szwandt. But the visitors raised their game after the interval and prop Craig Fairfieldâ€™s try was the only Scottish highlight in a largely one-sided second half.
