Lebanon do double over Saud Arabia select

Lebanon’s U18s defeated their Saudi Select counterparts in both games played in Beirut over the weekend to take the MEA Junior Championship.

The young Cedars won the first match, played in stormy, cold conditions, 18-4 on Friday night before turning on the style with a 40-6 victory on Sunday.

The Middle East Africa junior Championship returns after a year’s absence, with the Saudi Rugby League Association’s U18s visiting Lebanon this week.

The 2014 event was cancelled due to regional instability but this year Lebanon will play Saudi Arabia Select, on 13 and 15 February at AUB’s state-of-the-art Hostler Centre.

Lebanon and Saudi met for the first of an expanded regional championship that will feature two games yesterday. The sides were locked at 22 all last year and bragging rights were firmly up for grabs this time round. Lebanon won the toss and elected to kick.
