FIRL President Orazio D'Arro has said that his nation’s 15-14 over co-hosts England in a World Cup warm up match at Salford is, “a great moment for the game in Italy.”
The Western Cape Sports Council recently accepted the Western Cape Rugby League association as a member. Elton Davids of the Western Cape Sports Council commented: â€WP Sports Council is excited to have WP Rugby League as part of it's membership. Sports Council's are duty bound to acknowledge various codes, recognize their positive role in society while contributing to making this 'an active and winning nationâ€.

Tyrone Sterry led the first FIRFL Italian rugby league coaching course held on 18 and 19 March at Roma V. During the course, the Italian national coach Tyrone Sterry, underlined the fundamental importance of the role of the coach, which should be the point of reference for the whole group.
Australia coach Tim Sheens has admitted he is aware his team will be the firm favourites to beat an inexperienced New Zealand side in the upcoming Anzac Test but is preparing for a tough test from Kiwi players looking to prove a point. A strong Australian side will take on a youthful and inexperienced New Zealand team without a host of its star players.
