Two late tries, from teenage debutant Arie-Tjerk Schultz and Amsterdam Cobras winger David Bos, ensured that the Netherlands retained the Griffin Cup, with a 38-22 win over Germany at the Sparta Stadium in Rotterdam. They won the Cup for the first time in five attempts last season and head coach Kane Krlic was delighted that his side kept the trophy on home soil.

A group of Dutch coach and match official tutors and candidates have completed a course in Rotterdam.
RLEF Coaching Manager Martin Crick and his match officials counterpart Steve Davis oversaw the sessions which were led by Jason Bruygoms and Timo Meinders (coaching), and Bruygoms and Misaele Vakadranu (match officials). Successful completion means that the NRLB graduated from the three-year RLEF technical strategy.

Netherlands Rugby League Bond has started a new programme working in schools for children with special educational needs. National captain Emmerson de Werk begun the project, delivering one hour sessions to five groups at Mijnschool in Harderwijk.
Following the RLEF’s 15th annual congress, held in Belgrade, the Nederlandse Rugby League Bond has been elevated from observer to affiliate member status, taking the total number of members to 19 - with an additional 14 observer nations alongside.
The fourth NRLB Grand Final tomorrow (Saturday) in Rotterdam will see a new name on the trophy, as Amsterdam Cobras and Den Haag Knights – who have been defeated in each of the previous finals – clash for the silverware.
