A Nederlandse Rugby League Bond delegation attended the French Federationâ€™s AGM on Saturday as part of the RLEFâ€™s Governance Foundation Project.The project is in partnership with the European Commission and is designed to improve governance in European rugby league through a series of mentor-learner exchanges and institutional level links.
One of five such partnerships sees the French act as Dutch rugby leagueâ€™s mentor, a relationship that commenced with NRLB chairman Jason Bruygoms and director Timo Meindersâ€™ visit to Salon de Provence, 50km north of Marseille, to the 69th FFRXIII congress. The Dutch will host a French delegation in 2013 for their AGM, with an accompanying assessment of the NRLBâ€™s governance practices to follow.
Two late tries, from teenage debutant Arie-Tjerk Schultz and Amsterdam Cobras winger David Bos, ensured that the Netherlands retained the Griffin Cup, with a 38-22 win over Germany at the Sparta Stadium in Rotterdam. This Saturday, 19th July, will see the inaugural ‘NRLB Nationale Kampioenschap’ kick off in the Netherlands, with the first of a two-game series played between the big city rivals as the Amsterdam City Cobras face Rotterdam City Pitbulls.
Rotterdam Pitbulls begin the defence of their NRLB title this weekend when they face newcomers Harderwijk Dolphins. In the other match to open proceedings, Amsterdam Cobras play host to Den Haag Knights.
After a successful first year, the Netherlands Rugby League Bond (NRLB) has begun the second year of their rugby league school programme.
It is led my national head coach Kane Krlic and consists of delivering introductory sessions to participants aged between 7-18, while also providing resources and training opportunities for teachers. Last year, the NRLB worked with just under 500 students and have the targeted an ambitious 1000 for this academic session.
