Rugby League summer camps prove popular in Lebanon

Lebanese Rugby League Federation elect new board

Following elections hosted and presided over by the Ministry of Youth and Sport in Beirut, the Lebanese Rugby League Federation has announced its new administrative board. The six-strong group, which is mandated until January 2023, includes four independent directors and two nominated by the clubs.

Following their recent AGM, the Lebanese Rugby League Federation has announced record, audited turnover of $618K AUD for the last financial year – which does not include their participation in the 2017 Rugby League World Cup – posted their first positive balance sheet in 16 years, and reported on improved domestic standards.
First RL game at youth level between club sides played in Lebanon

Al Mina RLFC have played their first game at youth level, as new North Lebanon development officer Mohamed Mohsen seeks to rebuild the club game in the region. Mohsen, who replaced Nader Mgheit following his emigration to the USA, has been delivering to six schools and a number of the children played in the historic first match for Al Mina who went down 24-12 to the more experienced Tripoli Kings.

Further to a board meeting of the LRLF, president Mohamad Habbous has commented: “On the back of a successful World Cup campaign - and year generally - we are looking forward to ushering in an exciting new era. For the first time in its 17-year history the LRLF is debt free, meaning that we have stability to grow through the next period.
