Italian Rugby League welcome new dual-code side in Championship

FIRL have announced that ‘Florence Rugby 1931’ will take part in the 2013 Serie ‘A’ Rugby League championship.
They will be led by former Azzurri international, Argentinean Marcelo Segundo, who played in Italy RL’s memorable win over Wales in 2010.
Rosario-born and Director of Youth Rugby at Florence 1931, Segundo said, “As soon as I played a few games I was in love with rugby league.â€
RLEF statement on Italian Rugby League

Following recent statements on social media concerning rugby league in Italy, the RLEF reconfirms its position that FIRL (Federazione Italiana Rugby League) is the sole legal and recognised National Governing Body of Italian rugby league. FIRL has recently opened a dialogue with the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), including a meeting with its Secretary General Roberto Fabbricini and the RLEF rejects any claim that CONI recognises any other body as the legal Italian national governing body of rugby league.

It 's time for certainty, it is time to abandon compromise, metaphors, futile political exercises that do not reflect the ethics of our beloved sport Rugby.
We have received many proposals in recent years. Like that of six months ago - to bring together the movement in a single Italian Rugby League Federation. But we also have tangible evidence of attempts, so far in vain, but clumsy attempts to break the rules. Some clubs have been "invited" to take part in a vote in order to attain a desired outcome. We are fully aware of this and provide detailed documentation in the appropriate venues when and if need be. Before doing this, however, we want to make clear.

F.I.R.L. building long lasting foundations with first level coaching course

After training and qualifying 8 Rugby League coaches, last summer, FIRL continues the process of training their future technical staff.
On April 27 and May 4, 2013, FIRL has organised a first-level coaching course to be held at Modena Rugby Club.
The course will be held by RLEF trained Italian tutors Kelly Rolleston and Tiziano Franchini, the course will give participants the opportunity to get to learn the technical aspects of rugby league and to effectively train a rugby league team.
New Italian Federation Rugby league President outlines future plans

New clubs register for 2013 Italian Serie A RL Championship

The Italian Rugby League federation, FIRL indicates the of 10 April 2013 as the deadline for registration for the 2013 Italian SERIE A RL domestic competition.
Once the closure of the championship registration is reached, the SERIA A championship calendar will be formalised with teams being divided into zones and pools. This year there will be an increase in teams and players.
FIRFL Executive’s new appointment to boost Rugby League in Italy
