Following recent statements on social media concerning rugby league in Italy, the RLEF reconfirms its position that FIRL (Federazione Italiana Rugby League) is the sole legal and recognised National Governing Body of Italian rugby league. FIRL has recently opened a dialogue with the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), including a meeting with its Secretary General Roberto Fabbricini and the RLEF rejects any claim that CONI recognises any other body as the legal Italian national governing body of rugby league.

"It will be a very interesting championship"
The captain of three-times champion XIII of Ducato, Fabio Berzieri, expects a season harder than ever: “this year is very important because in October Italy will participate in the World Cup so all the players will want to do their best to make an impact in the domestic championshipâ€, says Hogan.
A message from David Massitti, President of “Federazione Italia Rugby Football Leagueâ€
It 's time for certainty, it is time to abandon compromise, metaphors, futile political exercises that do not reflect the ethics of our beloved sport Rugby.
We have received many proposals in recent years. Like that of six months ago - to bring together the movement in a single Italian Rugby League Federation. But we also have tangible evidence of attempts, so far in vain, but clumsy attempts to break the rules. Some clubs have been "invited" to take part in a vote in order to attain a desired outcome. We are fully aware of this and provide detailed documentation in the appropriate venues when and if need be. Before doing this, however, we want to make clear.
