The Greek Rugby League Association (GRLA) is on the brink of an historic and difficult decision to move their final RLIF Rugby League World Cup qualification game away from Athens and probably into England. This comes about because of the long-running and baffling arrangement where the Greek government has recognised a rival and unrecognised group governed by the Hellenic Federation of Modern Pentathlon (HFMP).

Anastasios Pantazidis, Konstantinos Tzevelekos, Ioannis Mavros, Matthew Ashill and Iordanis Bilikaidis have become the first Greek coaches to gain their Level 1 qualification after completion of a two day course in Nikaia, North of Piraeus.
Neapoli Lakonia became the first Division B champions in Greece after beating Pegasus Neos Kosmos ‘B’, 28-24 on their home field in Vatika, Lakonia.
The match, played close to the ancient city of Sparta in southern Greece, drew over 600 fans, the vast majority of whom were watching rugby league for the first time in what the Hellenic Federation of Rugby League consider a public relations coup.
The Hellenic Rugby League Championship is drawing to a close and three teams still have a chance of being in the Grand Final.
Pegasus Neos Kosmos and AEK Kokkinias will face each other in two weeks’ time in the standout match remaining, AEK having claimed the spoils in round one. The winners look set to claim a finals berth.
