The 2014 Czech rugby league season kicked-off with the third annual CZRLA pre-season 9s tournament. The tournament was won by the Pardubice-Chrudim team - wearing the South Sydney Rabbitohs kit recently bestowed on the Chrudim club by the Australian rugby league powerhouse - who defeated the host club, Slavia Hradec Kralove, in the final.
A 19-man tour group representing English Colleges has arrived in the Czech Republic to play two games against the Czech U20s in Vrchlabí.
The first match is tonight (Friday, 18:00 kick-off) with the second on Sunday (14.00 kick off) after which there will be an official, commemorative dinner.
The Czech Republic and Norway have announced their squads to play in Saturday’s international in Krupka, close to the east German border. It will be the third meeting between the nations, with each having won once.
Czech rugby league player/coach David Lahr has reduced his 50-man initial training squad to 28 for the European Championship C match with Malta in mid-July, after three training sessions in recent weeks, each over five hours in duration.
The 2014 CZRLA Grand Final will be played on the first weekend of November between the CZRLA Championship winners, Lokomotiva Beroun, and the CZRLA Cup winners, the Czech Rabbitohs. Beroun won the Grand Final in 2012 & 2013 to cap undefeated seasons in which they won the then Czech triumvirate of the pre-season 9s tourney and the Championship as well as the Grand Final.

Lokomotiva Beroun have clinched the 2012 Czech Rugby League 1st Division Championship with a game still in hand. Undefeated in 2012, Beroun are now on track to win all 3 of the available CZRLA 2012 titles, having won the pre-season 9s, having now secured the Championship, and with the Grand Final to be played on November 10.
The Czech Republic registered only its second-ever win at full international level, six years after their first, defeating Belgium 14-4 in Tis, and levelling the two-match series following their 50-12 defeat in Brussels in April.

Lokomotiva Beroun and the Chrudim Angels remain undefeated in their respective divisions in the Czech Rugby League Championships.
Beroun have nilled three of their four 1st Division opponents en route to finishing the first half of the home-and-away season undefeated. So far this season they have defeated Vrchlabi 56-0, Havlickuv Brod 38-0, and Mikulov Roosters 42-6 at home, and Teplice Dragons 50-0 away with some impressively mature attacking rugby league and solid defence.
The RLEF’s Czech Republic Development Manager, Andy Mulhall, is returning to his native Queensland, leaving behind him a vibrant and expanding rugby league scene.
A teacher in the Czech Republic, in 2006 Mulhall read in a rugby league magazine that local enthusiasts were starting the sport. An offer to help out with coaching led to his unbroken and extensive involvement in developing the sport, both on and off the field.
