Cook Islands name preliminary train-on squad for Pacific RLWC qualifier

The Cook Islands Rugby League has announced the following preliminary train-on squad ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Tonga on October 17 at 7.30pm at Campbelltown Stadium.

Cook Islands coach Alex Chan said: “I certainly believe that our qualifying match against Tonga will unveil some exciting and entertaining players.

The Cook Islands have been busy this week accommodating RLIF Chairman Nigel Wood. Wood ducked over to the Cook Islands to meet up with Charles Carlson who is the President of Cook Islands Rugby League and also the Chairman of the Asia Pacific Rugby League Confederation.

The visit by the RLIF chef was a big positive for the Cooks and the Pacific in general.

With around 400 days until the start of the 2013 Rugby League World Cup, Cook Islands – who face Wales, USA and Tonga in Group D – will take on Lebanon at the Crest Stadium, Bankstown, Australia, next Sunday, 7th October, in a warm up Test.
