Around the world there are hundreds of people just like you. They subscribe to mysterious Facebook pages, listen to Steve Mascord or come to leading websites such as Rugby League Planet. We are all chasing the same thing: The Rugby League frontier.

The frontier can be a cold place, receiving arctic winds that blow down into Toronto, or indeed a humid one, as students in a Ghanaian University throw a Steeden back and forth.

We love the frontier because the frontier means future, for the sport we love!

Many of us will never get to Canada or Ghana, but that’s where the internet comes in, where our online community have proven over 5 years how effective we can be in numbers!

The Rugby League Development Fund is an online community of RL enthusiasts. Together we contribute $10 (AUS) a month into a fund and after 12 months of saving we democratically decide who will benefit from our donation. In the lead up to the decision, we invite nations to submit a detailed application, so that each member can cast 1x vote with an informed view.

Together we have raised almost $12,000 (AUS) and have distributed the funds to 3 continents. The last recipient was Serbia, who received the largest amount to date, and 2015 looks to grow even bigger!

Jovan Vujosevic, Serbian spokesperson as well as a RLEF Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe gave praise to the Fund’s impact.

‘It pushed forward youth development in Belgrade Region and at the moment Serbia have 4 full 13-side teams playing rugby league in U16 age group. This also has animated other clubs in Serbia and the Belgrade Region to join this program and at moment our target is to get 2 or 3 more sides in Belgrade Region and 3 or 4 sides in other parts of Serbia. This program will give great results in coming years, when these kids become senior players and join the open age competition’.

The RLDF are now seeking new members to join us for our 2015-2016 period.

Come and join us on the frontier!
