Jesse Bromwich is one of the most decorated rugby league players of all time. The prop made his New Zealand debut in 2012 and has had over a decade at the top level of the sport. At 33, his best years may be behind him, but Bromwich still has a huge role to play for his international and club teams going forward.

Bromwich was named captain of the Queensland side, and their first NRL game ended in a 28-18 win over Roosters at Suncorp Stadium. The 2023 season is still in its infancy, but Dolphins have made a strong start and could be the surprise package this year.
New Zealand Looking to Get Back on Top
New Zealand are one of the best rugby nations in the world. However, after Australia’s 2021 Rugby League World Cup success, the Aussies are above New Zealand at the top of the rugby league international rankings.
In last year’s terrific World Cup on English soil, the New Zealanders eased out of their group, seeing off Lebanon, Ireland and Jamaica. They edged past Fiji in the quarter-finals before coming up against nemesis Australia in the last four.
It was a tight and tense semi-final in Leeds, with the Aussies edging it 16-14. Host nation England narrowly lost to Samoa in their semi, and Australia went on to thump the Samoans 30-10 in the final in Manchester to get their hands on yet another World Cup crown.
Bromwich lost his captaincy after a scandal in 2017. He had some dark days back then, but the prop was reinstated as Kiwis skipper ahead of last year’s Rugby League World Cup. That just shows how vital the 33-year-old still is for his national side, as Bromwich has all the experience and class in the world.
Bromwich Still Has Huge Role to Play for Club and Country
The move to Dolphins has no doubt given the Auckland ace a new lease of life, and he has settled in well in Queensland after spending his entire career in Melbourne with Storm.

Moving away from Melbourne Rectangular Stadium after so many years was a brave but wise decision, and Bromwich will no doubt be a massive player for Dolphins after signing the three-year deal. Having also been named Kiwis captain again, the three-time Melbourne Storm Player of the Year still has a big part to play at the top level of rugby league.
