Tedesco named as NSW Blues vice-captain | 2019 SOO

The Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues have announced fullback James Tedesco as vice-captain for Game Two of the Holden State of Origin series at Optus Stadium in Perth on Sunday 23 June.

The Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues have announced fullback James Tedesco as vice-captain for Game Two of the Holden State of Origin series at Optus Stadium in Perth on Sunday 23 June.

Tedesco, 26, was first selected in the NSW team in 2016 and played all three games in the side that beat Queensland last year to claim the Shield for the first time since 2014.

“I feel privileged every time I pull on the blue jumper for NSW and it’s a tremendous honour to represent your state and all the fans who support us,” Tedesco said.

“I’m very humbled to have been selected as vice-captain as there are so many champion players to choose from in our team.

“I’ll be doing everything I can to support my captain Boyd Cordner and lead by example to ensure the Shield remains in NSW.”

Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues coach Brad Fittler said he had plenty of quality players to choose from before settling on Tedesco.

“Teddy works hard in every game he plays for NSW,” Fittler said.

“He always leads by example and I’m confident he’ll embrace the extra responsibility.”

Former NSW enforcer Mark Geyer was invited into camp tonight to present the Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues with their jerseys.

The team has been based at Perth’s beachside suburb of Scarborough this week but have shifted to the city now to put the finishing touches on their preparations for Game Two.
