Overview: Mate Ma’a Tonga are locked in for the 2nd semi final to take place in Auckland on Saturday evening.
Tonga are the first team to book a place in the Rugby League World Cup final after narrowly scraping home against Lebanon 24 – 22. Tonga have been outstanding during the World Cup tournament. After defeating New Zealand they really increased their chances of going all the way to the World Cup final. The quarter final match against Lebanon has brought Mata Ma’a Tonga back to earth. Tonga will need to get back to their best to have any chance of making history and booking a place in the World Cup final.
England are a step away from the World Cup Final but a little Island in the Pacific called Tonga stands in their way. England secured a semi final place after knocking out PNG 36 – 6 in Melbourne over the weekend. The English still seem to have plenty of room for improvement and they will need to take it up a notch when they travel to Auckland. If they can get past the Tongan passion and win they will secure their place in the World Cup final for the first time since 1995.
