Serbian rugby league’s future looks bright after their U21 national side confidently defeated the senior Czech team 32-4 away in Vrchlabi.

Led by Partizan hooker Dario Abidinović’s two try performance, the Serbians led 20-0 at the break, Relja Petrović and Miodrag Tomić also crossing.

Petr Šedina got the hosts on the board with an unconverted try just after restart, but Radnički Niš duo Đorđe Stošić and Branko Čarapić posted late converted tries to complete a comprehensive win.

Serbian coach Admir Hadžić was full of praise for his young players. “It was a good test for both sides and we are grateful to the Czechs for hosting us,” he said. “International games are crucial for the development of this talented group of players who are already starters for their senior clubs in Serbia. The next step for them is to become a full time international players so its our task to provide them enough oportunity to gain valuble experience.”
