The European Commission organised its sixth EU Sport Forum in Milan recently, an event attended by more than 260 delegates from all across Europe.
The RLEF was represented by Jovan Vujosevic, the Regional Director for Central and East Europe and Tiziano Franchini, vice president of the Federazione Italiana Rugby League.
“The Forum was, as always, an important event for the RLEF and, for the second time, we had a permanent stand to present our activities undertaken at the EU level,” said Vujosevic, who also attended the Sport Forum in Vilnius, Lithuania, last year.
“It gave us a further opportunity to create new links with important sport-government bodies” added Vujosevic, who demonstrated the on-going success of the Leadership Devolution Project, which is part-financed by the EU thanks to a €195.855 grant and features 18 RLEF member countries.
The RLEF delegation met with the new Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Mr Tibor Navracsics, and representatives of Sport Accord, the European University Sport Association, the Italian and Czech Republic Olympic Committees and other national governing bodies and multi-sport organisations.
Mr Navracsics and his colleagues introduced new guidelines for financing sport projects via the EU Commission from sport budget Erasmus+ and unveiled the ‘European Week of Sport’ as a new way to promote sport in the EU for programme and partner countries.
