Over the weekend the Final Rugby League games between the best Ukrainian teams were held at the “Star” stadium in Kharkiv. Those teams had a chance to uphold an honour of their cities: RLC “Legion XIII” Kharkiv, RLC “Kribass” Krivoy Rog, RLC “Titan” Donetsk, RLC “CEPU” from Simferopol.
Looking at the list of teams it is easy to see that those 4 teams had to travel a long way to the Final considering the situation in Eastern Ukraine and the Crimea. The main slogan of the competitions in Kharkiv was “Unity in Sports!”.
The four teams have made the deciders from the two pools of regular season competition, encompassing eight sides in all.
The semi-finals saw: “Legion XIII” defeat “Kribass” 48:0 while “Titan” went down to “CEPU” 14:18.
The finals saw the first match played which was a play-off for 3rd place with “Titan” defeating “Kribass” 24:6.
The Final match saw “Legion XIII” run away with the game against “CEPU” 36:6.
RLC “Legion XIII” – the pioneers of Rugby League in Ukraine became the champions. RLC “CEPU” a team from Simferopl is improving gradually year by year. Simferopl participated first in 2012 and the same year they took the 4th place. In 2013 they received the bronze medals. In 2014 Simferopl have secured 2nd place and really shows how far they have come as a club. Third place was secured by “Titan” Dontesk while 4th place was given to Kribass
The best scorer of 2014 Championship is a captain of “Legion XIII” Skorbach Aleksandr.
We also chose the best forwards and backs players in each team.
“Legion XIII”-the best forward Getmanov Nikolay, Aleksandr Sivokoz – the best back.
“CEPU” Simferopol – Assan Setar the best forward, Fevzi Ebubikirov the best back.
RLC “Titan” – Kiril Smelyanskiy the best forward, the best back – Andrey Gribanov.
The best forward of RLC “Krivbass” Artur Boris and the best back Nikolay Shelayev.
