The eighth club registered to play rugby league in Spain, and sixth in the county of l’Horta, has been established.

Torrent Tigres RLC are intending to make their debut at the inaugural Spanish 9s later this year and enter the National League Championship in 2015.

They intend to start training in September under Aitor Dàvila, captain of the Spanish national team, who will be their coach.

“We’ve a great challenge ahead but players have already come forward,” he said. “Rugby league is making good progress in our country and a clear proof is the creation of new teams like Tigres.”

“Torrent is a city with a population of more than 100,000, just 5km. from Valencia. We hope to attract many boys and girls to have fun playing this great, new sport.”
