Sweden to hold another open training session to fans as well as national selection.

An open training session will be held on Sunday July 13 in Jönköping for all current players and those interested in trying out rugby league for the first time.

The session is open to any Swedes, and looks to draw players from Södertälje and Stockholm, Malmö and the Skåne region, and Kungsbacka and Gothenburg.

The day also looks to draw any Swedes from neighbouring Denmark and Norway that are interested in representing the national team.

National Head Coach Ashley Brown will be on hand to oversee the sessions and is excited for the prospects the day will bring.

“The squad will be picked to play a certain style,” Brown said. “We will be looking to set the pace for our title defence with a well drilled aggressive pack.”

Asked about his opposition, Brown said, “Denmark and Norway within a two-week turnaround will be a tough ask, but this team will definitely be up for it.

“We are building a culture here in Sweden and the boys will be burning for more success as we look to continue our domination of Scandinavian rugby league.”

For those new to rugby league, there will be some skill drills and some fitness training to participate in. The session will also give fans a chance to mingle with players that have played in the Pan-Scandinavian Championship and previous Nordic Cups.
