Newcastle Knights are an Australian rugby league team who play in the National Rugby League competition. The Newcastle Knights are located in Newcastle, 170 km north of Sydney in NSW, Australia.

Also known as the Novocastrians, the Knights play out of McDonald Jones Stadium which is also known as Hunter Stadium.

The Knights NRL journey started in 1988 when they joined the NSWRL 1st grade rugby league competition which was known as the Winfield Cup.

The Knights have won two Premierships at the top level since joining the competition. The first was in 1997 under the ARL banner in a split competition due to the Super League war. The 2nd Knights premiership was in 2001 under the unified NRL competition.
