Australia head coach Tim Sheens has named his 19 man squad to play Fiji at Langtree Park on Saturday (20:00)

Corey Parker is enjoying being part of his second Australian touring side and experiencing the atmosphere of Rugby League World Cup 2013 ahead of his side’s second Group A fixture versus Fiji at Langtree Park, St. Helens, on Saturday (8.00pm).

The Kangaroos defeated England in the RLWC2013 opener under the closed roof of Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium and Parker is loving the experience of the tournament, despite the English weather.

“It is exciting to be involved in the Rugby League World Cup and to be named in the team is exciting,”said Parker. “I am looking forward to it.

“I have done a lot of things in Rugby League and I have spoken to a lot of players and ex-players and they talk about the passion and the excitement around a World Cup and now we are getting the opportunity to play in one.

“But one moment the sun will be out and then the next it is raining! That is what is to be expected and I am thinking that it is going to get worse before it gets better.”

Brisbane Broncos prop Parker is more than happy with any role he is given in the Australian side, be it in the starting 13 or impacting from the bench, and believes that the Kangaroos need to give every opponent respect as they chase a tenth World Cup title.

“It has not changed touring with the Australian team, it is the same as my last time and I am fortunate to be a part of this team,” said Parker. “You have only got to look at the stars that are in this side.

“A lot of us have played in Origin football and most of the guys have played for the Australian team before but you have got to give your opponent respect when it is due.

“Regardless where you play you have got to come on and do your job. Regardless of whether I am starting or coming off the bench I am just going to come on and do the best I can.”
