The Chairman of the PNGRFL Don Fox today announced a 27-man squad for the PM13 match & the 2013 World Cup. The squad was presented to the PNGRFL Chairman and the PNG Prime Minister Honorable Peter O’Neill to officially endorse before being released late today.
The 27-man squad will be reduced to the final 22-man Team Kumul World Cup Squad after the PM13 match against the Australian Kangaroos in Kokopo this Sunday 29th September 2013.
Chairman Don Fox said the squad was a very strong one;
“It’s an exceptionally strong squad and the National selectors, Adrian and Mal have done a fantastic job. There are always disappointed players but we have a lot of depth this year which is a great sign not just for the World Cup but for the future of the game. Some players are still unavailable for the PM13 due to injury or still competing in finals oversees, but that doesn’t rule them out for the World Cup which is why we have announced an extended 27-man squad, which will be trimmed to the final 22-man World Cup Squad after the PM13 match.”
Team Kumul Head Coach Adrian Lam also added;
“This has been a long process and we’re nearing our destination. There are still a few more obstacles but we’re very pleased with what we’re seeing. We are taking a strong squad to Kokopo, which we’ve had to extend due to a few player’s really standing out during the recent trial, who forced there way into consideration. To be honest, this is a good position to be in and
