Air Niugini has today released packages for PNG supporters to cheer on their Team Kumul squad at the Rugby League World Cup in the UK in October.
PNGRFL Interim CEO Brad Tassell said the packages were well priced and offered a range of options to PNG supporters wishing to travel to the World Cup;
“We have been working with Air Niugini for quite some time now on finalising the packages and we are pretty happy with what they have some up with. PNG supporters will link up with the Total Experience Tour Group upon arrival in the UK and will not only see Team Kumul in action but will also be provided with tickets to other World Cup matches. The packages include all airfares, accommodation, transfers and tickets and provides the perfect opportunity for rabid PNG supporters to take part in the World Cup and cheer on their very own Team Kumul.â€
Tassell said the PNGRFL had been bombarded with request from fans:
“Ever since we took a tour away to the South Sydney match earlier on this year I have been constantly approached by people who took part in that tour who had such a great time that they wanted to book their place on a World Cup tour. There is a huge fan base out there and it would not surprise me if the phones ran hot at the Air Niugini booking office. Air Niugini have now provided the opportunity and I congratulate our official airline partners Air Niugini on the options they have provided to PNG Fans.
“Momentum is building, Team Kumul merchandise is about to hit the stores and there is a lot of excitement about the World Cup in October. We are expecting the two games in PNG to be absolute sell outs and I also have no doubt we will have a large group travelling over to the UK. I have already booked my seat and I am really looking forward to cheering on our boys.â€
Tassell also added that ticket sales will be announced shortly for both the Team Kumul Red vs. Gold match on September 22nd in POM and the PM13 match on September 29th in Kokopo. Dates for a PM13 dinner and World Cup fundraising dinner will also be announced next week.
