The first game in the 2013 Rugby League Colonial Cup series kicked off on Saturday at Lamport Stadium, Toronto, Canada. With reports of around 7,168 fans packing Lamport stadium and the Wolverine’s didn’t disappoint.
The Tomahawks raced away early in the first half to lead the Canadian’s 4 – 16. The Wolverines crossed late in the first half and converted to bridge the gap 10 – 16.
The second half saw end to end rugby league take place that kept the crowd on their feet. The USA crossed the Canadian line early to see the Tomahawks edge away from the Wolverines 10 – 20.
Then someone in the Canadian team flicked the switch and it was all one way traffic with Canada putting on 26 un-answered points to record one of the best come backs in their short rugby league history defeating the USA 36 – 20.
The Canadian’s are now one up in the three game rugby league Colonial Cup series. The next match in the Colonial Cup series will see the Wolverines travel to Philadelphia to take on the USA Tomahawks on the 24th of August. The USA will be keen to square up the series.
The last game in the Colonial Cup series will see Canada take on the USA at Lamport Stadium on the 21st of September. The game itself will surely see the grand stands packed with Canadian countrymen getting behind their national rugby league team as they try to make history.
