On 19 January 2013, the General Assembly of FIRL, elected the new Federal Executive Board, which will lead the Federation to its first World Cup.

 

The meeting, held carefully by submitting the new laws based on democracy and the representation of the whole movement of Italian rugby league, saw the election of Mr. Orazio D’Arro as president of the Italian Rugby League.

Mr. Orazio D’Arro, former player and captain of the Italian Rugby XIII, began to hold the highest office in the national rugby league with very clear ideas.

Upon conclusion of the General Assembly, the new president, said: “I am very honored about my new charge, my goal is to develop an increasingly professional rugby league in Italy. I found a healthy movement in full swing, I am very happy to have received the confidence of the Italian club rugby league. There is much work ahead of us, but I want to provide my experience to achieve prestige in terms of development and propaganda of rugby league in Italy.”

During the General Assembly, as well as electing the new Federal Council, the FIRL spokesmen have presented the results obtained in the 2012 season, and have also presented the development plan for the years 2013/2016.

The programming for the next four years, provides a work based on the consolidation of existing realities, youth teams, and the involvement of all regions of Italy.

The new Federal Executive Council, has as its main goal to rearrange the Federation to make it more professional.
