The Semi Finals of the Italian Cup begin for the Lazio Group region this Sunday February at 11am at campo Comunale via Passo Cardinale, in Ceccano (Frosinone) to launch the full Coppa Italia di Rugby a Tredici tournament for the Federazione Italiana RFL in 2013.
The tournament in its third edition is a second tier event apart of the FIRFL development structure consisting of clubs from regions such as Lazio, Umbria, Reggio Emilia and Sicilia.
Great excitement is building among the Lazio clubs, who began their training in recent weeks and whose players will receive training and development from National Coach Ty Sterry in the next month.
The head of the Lazio Rugby League committee, Riccardo Marini, is basing the exhibition matches and rugby league development at the one
ground: “Ceccano, Roma Quinto (5th), Spartaco and USAG (Gladiators Arlecchini) are the teams who will participate Sunday in the
development camps and matches – Marini declares- I’m going around the various clubs to support the training initiatives”.
“We will hold the playoffs to continue the journey (for the Lazio teams) and in future contest the Coppa Italia final, which this year will take place in Catania (Sicily) through Rectores Belpasso RL”.
The team Belpasso Catania is in fact defending the title after earning 2012 Coppa Italia champions having played and won the final last year
against the USAG staged at Tor Tre Teste. Marini continues: “This is the third year that we have played the Coppa Italia. We are working on
the regions to promote this new discipline with the aim of increasing the clubs participating.”
