Rugby League is a new sport in Bosnia and Herzegovina and locals passionate about rugby league are tackling many issues as they try to get a regular competition up and running.
There are currently two clubs in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The first which started around 6 months ago White Rabbits are based in Banja Luka. The newest Rugby League club New Thunder are based in New City (a small city in South of the country).
Goran Marjanovic who is a player and board member of the White Rabbits is confident that a 3rd club will be setup this year. This will also allow Bosnia and Herzegovina to form a Federation and gain further assistance from the Rugby League European Federation (RLEF). At this stage the White Rabbits are looking to play in the Serbian 2nd division next season.
Goran explains “RLC White Rabbits started with preparations for the next season, and the first preparatory match played 02.Marta in Banja Luka at 14.00 hours at the stadium Kraina against RLC Workers from Nova Pazova R.Srbija. This international friendly match will be a test for our participation in the competition in the second division rugby league in Serbia.”
Like all new teams playing kits, footballs and sponsors are always hard to come by. Goran elaberates “We will play 3 matches with clubs from Serbia and organised a rugby tournament later this year. The only problem is that we do not have uniforms”
So if anyone out there can assist Goran and the White Rabbits with playing gear drop us a line at Rugby League Planet and we will put you in touch.
