PNRL Press Release – Date: 22/10/12

The PAL Tamaraws created Rugby League history by winning the first Asian Cup, Rugby League International in Bangkok, Thailand on Sunday the 21st October.

The final scoreline of 86-0 reflected the dominance of the PAL Tamaraws against the national Thailand Stars Rugby League team.

With the PAL Tamaraws comprising of players from the elite Australian, National Rugby League (NRL) competition, with Matt Srama and Kevin Gordon playing for the Gold Coast Titans, and supported by a host of lower grade NRL, Queensland Cup and A grade players. The rugby league experience of the Philippines National team proved to much for the Thailand Stars team, who were made up of expatriate and local Thai players and some Thai-Australians with A grade Rugby League experience.

The PAL Tamaraws now head to the Philippines to introduce “the greatest game of all” to local Filipinos, with local Rugby League clinics at Nayon ng Kabataan Orphanage, Don Bosco Technical College Makati and a number of Maritime companies, culminating in the Clark 9s on the 27th October, the first ever Rugby League tournament in the Philippines.
