Cook Islands fought off a late charge from the Lebanese to clinch victory at Crest Stadium, Bankstown on Sunday.

 

Cook Islands crossed the line just after 10 minutes and converted to hit the lead 6 – 0. Lebanon hit back midway through the second half to even the score 6 all. Just before half time the Cooks crossed over again to go into the half time break with a small lead of 10 – 6.

In the second half the scores remained unchanged until midway through the 2nd half where the Cook Islands went on a scoring spree crossing the Lebanese line four times to take a handy lead 28 – 6.

With 10 minutes to go the Lebanese went on a try scoring spree of there own crossing the Cooks line three times and converting all tries. The Cedars just ran out of time with the Cooks just holding on to take the match 28 – 24.

This was a great hit out for the Cook Islands players as they prepare for next years Rugby League World Cup. Lebanon are looking further ahead building their squad in preparation for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup qualifiers.
