In a year where Super League has been in the press for all the wrong reasons it’s great to see the fans still love the game.

The Rugby Football League have released figures showing that 1.88 million fans visited a Super League game during the regular season.

1.88 million is 6.7 percent increase on last years attendance of 1.77 million. It is also the highest aggregate attendance since Super League’s inception in 1996.

This is a big boost for a game that has seen Bradford Bull go into administration mid season and other clubs feeling the strain of the current economic climate in the UK.

The Super League final series start this weekend. Wigan Warriors take on the Catalans Dragons at home On Friday night. On Saturday Warrington Wolves are at home to St Helens which is the clash of the weekend. Strait after Leeds Rhinos are at home against Wakefield Trinity Wildcats. On Sunday Hull FC round up the first weekend of finals playing at home against the Huddersfield Giants.
