Rugby League Development Fund

After much deliberation, ironically it came down to Canada and Lebanon when members had to vote for the winner of the 2012 Rugby League Planet – Rugby League Development Fund Grant.

Both Lebanon and Canada have been shining lights in the development of rugby league in their respective nations.

Lebanon Rugby League have really been active in developing rugby league in Lebanon since 2002. Rugby League is now accepted as an official sport by the Ministry of Education in Lebanon. Overall Lebanon now have 750 registered players.

Canada are much newer to the sport but have achieved so much in such a short space of time. Canada Rugby League now boast 250 registered players. Canada Rugby League recently attracted over 4700 people to a international match against Jamaica at Toronto.

Rugby League Development Fund members have really been impressed with the progress Canada have made in such a short period of time.

As the Rugby League Planet Forum did play a very small part in the re-emergence of rugby league in Canada it’s only fitting that the Rugby League Development Fund members congratulate Canada on winning the 2012 Grant which has been donated by club members with the goal of assisting Rugby League development in an emerging rugby league nation.

We are now looking for more members to come on board and help grow the fund for the July 2012 – June 2013 Period. So for as little as $10 a month or a one of payment of $120 you can take part in assisting rugby league as it develops around the world.

Members get to vote during the application period in 2013 and also have access to the Rugby League Development Fund members forum.
