A three-team competition may start in Greece in September.

The teams expected to take part are Promitheas, Patras (both based near
Athens) and Rhodes-based Rodos Knights.

It had been hoped a second Rhodes team would also take part but they are now expected to merge with the Knights to field a rugby union team only.
The Knights would therefore be involved in both codes, as would Patras who are intending to play union sevens. Promitheas would be the sole club of the three to just play league.

Rugby League Planet’s Athenian operatives report they have been in contact with a Serbian team and it is hoped they will visit in October.

The three teams, Promitheas, Patras and the Knights have in principle agreed to form a Greek federation.

Meanwhile, Promitheas and Patras recently played a game of 13-a-side league. You can read about it by clicking on this link:

In April, we told you about a Nines game also played near Athens.
