2012 Rugby League State of Origin Snapshot - The 2012 Rugby League State of Origin series kicked-off take in Melbourne. With New South Wales going down in controversial circumstances 18 - 10 the aftermath saw the referees take the spotlight. NSW and the media turned their focus towards the performance of the referees including the video referee. A big positive from the game was the massive TV viewing numbers with an average national audience of 3.957 million viewers.
In front of a record state of origin crowd of 83,110, NSW wales and QLD put on a awesome display symbolising what State of Origin football is all about. NSW with their aggressive defence bashed QLD out of the match in a hard fought victory defeating the Maroons 16 - 12. To QLD's credit they never gave up even as players picked up injuries throughout the game.
Game 3 went down to the wire with a late field goal by Cooper Cronk giving Queensland victory and the series. The final score Queensland 21 - New South Wales 20. Queensland have now won seven consecutive State of Origin series. A new record was set with a national average audience of 4.041 million viewers tuning in.
