RLEF board approves new German national rugby league body

A new governing body for rugby league in Germany, Nationaler Rugby League Deutschland, has been approved by the Rugby League European Federation following the dissolution of the original board, which lost is Affiliate Member status in September 2014 for breaches of the RLEF’s governance rules.

Rugby League in Germany countinues to rebuild

Germany continued its rebuilding with a match official tutor course in Hattingen, North Rhine-Westphalia, as part of the EU-RLEF Leadership Devolution Project.

Wales RL’s Ian Curzon oversaw local tutor trainees, Bob Doughton and Simon Cooper and his compatriot Steve Allen, with RLEF match official educator David Butler assessing all participants, as seven aspiring German match officials undertook a level one course.

Stocks releases Germany Rugby League train-on squad for European Shield

Germany coach Dan Stocks has released a 28-man train-on squad for the RLEF European Shield 2012/13 reverse fixtures, with his team travelling to Belgrade to play Serbia.

Former Sydney Roosters junior Jeff Moate, currently playing in France with Lescure, is drafted in and joins the core of players that largely impressed in 2012. He will add experience to an already large set of forwards.

German rugby league youngsters relish French tour

An Easter tour by Heidelberg Lions under-16s included an historic first rugby league match between French and German teams.

The visitors defeated a local development selection 16-6 in the Perpignan suburb of Baho with German U16 international Florian Rambow scoring the first and last tries.

“I had a lot fun playing and I love the pace of this game. I would like to play League more often,” he said.

Rugby League Deutschland has elected a new Board of Directors, including a new president Benedikt Rehm, at its AGM in Heidelberg.

Rehm, a long-time league enthusiast and former international, replaces Max Schoengen who had been elected in February 2011.
