Toa Samoa finalise Test team for 2013 Pacific International against Tonga

Toa Samoa coach Steve Price has finalised his team for Saturday night’s Pacific Test against Mate Ma’a Tonga at Centrebet Stadium, Penrith.
With the likes of Roy Asotasi, Jeff Lima, Junior Sa’u and Eddy Pettybourne electing to represent Samoa, Price is pleased with his line-up for this weekend’s match.
“Finalising my squad for this weekend’s Test was a lot more difficult than it was two years ago, which is testament to the growth of the game in the Pacific,” Price said on Wednesday morning.

Rugby League Samoa are pleased to announce an 19-man squad to represent Toa Samoa in the Pacific Test Match against Tonga on Saturday April 20 at Centrebet Stadium (Penrith).
“It is fantastic to see the ARL Commission and the NRL throwing their support behind the international game and especially the Pacific nations,” Samoa head coach Steve Price said.

It has been a momentous two weeks for the development of rugby league in Samoa, with the touring NSW CRL side playing two gruelling tests against the Toa Residents side.
Both games were close and provided an entertaining promotion of rugby league at an elite level.

To the crowd of 5000 that watched the Toa Samoa Residents against New South Wales Country the game was Toa’s for the taking but handling errors and attitude saw NSW take the win yet again 22 to 18.
Toa Samoa coach Ponifasio Vasa said that despite losing he has seen great improvement in his side and is very proud of their efforts. “The boys played very well, it was a big change from Monday’s game and I am very proud of the way they played.”

An experienced New South Wales (NSW) Country First league team proved too good for Toa Samoa Residents on Monday 9 July losing 22 to 36 against the visitors at Apia Park.
Toa Samoa made up of all local players looked lost in the first half trying desperately to stop the onslaught brought on by NSW.
