Possible entry of PNG team in Queensland Rugby League competition a step closer

Representatives of the Queensland Ruby League visited PNG over the weekend on a scouting mission for a possible entry of a PNG team into the 2014 Intrust Super Cup competition.
The trio consisted of Rick Green (Queensland Rugby League Board Member), Jamie O’Connor (General Manager Competitions) and Brock Schaefer (CEO – Northern Pride).
PNG minister for sport hands over cheque for PM13 rugby league match

Minister for Sport Hon Justin Tkatchenko has today handed over a cheque for K240,000 for upgrades to Kalabond Stadium for PM13 Kangaroos vs. Kumuls match on September 29th.
The cheque was presented to PNGRFL Chairman Don Fox and ENB Governor Ereman Tobaining JNR today and matches kina for kina the contribution also made by Governor Tobaining towards the important match. Team Kumul mentor Mal Meninga was also present to thank the Minister and Governor for their contribution.
PNGRL Digicel Cup 2013 full season fixtures

The 2013 Digicel Cup kicks off this Sunday with 5 rugby league matches taking place across Papua New Guinea. The opening match will see the Rabaul Gurias take on the Mendi Muruks at the Kalabond Oval in Kokopo.

PNG’s most prestigious rugby league competition, the Digicel Cup 2013 came alive last night with the official launch event staged at the Gateway Hotel in Port Moresby.
About a hundred invited guests including, corporate support sponsors, members of parliament as well as representatives from the ten participating franchises and members of the media were all there to witness Digicel, PNG’s leading telecommunications company officiate the 2013 Digicel Cup season.

According to the Papua New Guinea newspaper the Post Courier, the annual Prime Minister’s XIII match between Papua New Guinea PM XIII - Australia PM XIII will take place at the end of the regular NRL season on the 29th of September.
