First Greek coaches get qualified

Anastasios Pantazidis, Konstantinos Tzevelekos, Ioannis Mavros, Matthew Ashill and Iordanis Bilikaidis have become the first Greek coaches to gain their Level 1 qualification after completion of a two day course in Nikaia, North of Piraeus.

Greece overcame Vanuatu 14 - 24 in a close match on Saturday night in Port Vila. Both teams flew in players from Australia to field the strongest possible sides for the one off international between the two nations.
Greek championship may start in September

A three-team competition may start in Greece in September.
The teams expected to take part are Promitheas, Patras (both based near
Athens) and Rhodes-based Rodos Knights.
It had been hoped a second Rhodes team would also take part but they are now expected to merge with the Knights to field a rugby union team only.
The Knights would therefore be involved in both codes, as would Patras who are intending to play union sevens. Promitheas would be the sole club of the three to just play league.
Talks on Greek national body first game played in Greece

Just weeks after the first game of Rugby League in Greece, played by Greek residents, a meeting has been called for next month to kick-start the formation of a Greek national rugby league governing body.
"Six potentially interested parties from across Greece have been invited to this meeting on May 19," Athens-based George Stylianos told 'Rugby League Planet'.
