2005 Tri-Nations Snapshot - The 2005 Tri-Nations series kicked off in Australia and New Zealand before going to England. The games in the UK were once again well attended. New Zealand entered the series as favourites for the wooden spoon. What was to unfold would put the Tri-Nations series on the map. Great Britain only managed to win one of four games handing New Zealand a place in the final against Australia. The final at Elland Rd, Leeds produced one of the biggest upsets in recent times. New Zealand defeted Australia 24 - 0. This was the first time that New Zealand had won a Tri-Nations series. It was also the first time Australia had lost a series since their loss to France in 1978.
