PACIFIC CUP POOL ROUNDS
Host Nation - To be announced
Number of Teams - 4 (Papua New Guinea, Cook Islands, Fiji) (Samoa and Tonga will play each other in a Pacific Cup qualifying match)
2011 Pacific Cup Snapshot - The 2011 Pacific Cup will build on the successful 2009 tournament. While the Four Nations series is being played the Northern Hemisphere the pacific cup will take place in the Southern Hemisphere. On the back of the growth of the international game and a successful World Cup the Rugby League International Federation (RLIF) have implemented a schedule that includes ongoing international competitions for 2nd tier rugby league nations in the pacific. The new tournament will continue the momentum created by the 2008 Rugby League World Cup.
At this stage the RLIF are still to confirm teams, dates and times. The 2011 tournament will will Papua New Guinea, Cook Islands, Fiji automatically qualify. Samoa (Failed to qualify for the 2009 Pacific Cup) and Tonga (Finished last place in the 2009 Pacific Cup) will play each other in a Pacific Cup Qualifier.
The tournament will more then likely take place in one of the Pacific nations. It is also possible that the games will double as 2013 World Cup qualifying games.
